Happy Hump Day

This morning:

Welcome to my work world... This is where the creative magic happens.

This afternoon:

Check out this huge spider that greeted me in my own home. (I HATE spiders by the way). Ughhhh!

Tuesday's Gone With the Wind

After a long day of Social Media training (where I learned a ton and got some fab-tastic ideas) and prepping my MK customer emails for a Memorial day sale (check those inboxes ladies), we are now having family chill time. As you can see, Allie l-o-v-e-s popcorn and sits patiently waiting for her handfuls... My sweet girl :)

Monday, Monday

Today I hung this beautiful cross my mom found at a garage sale for $7... Seriously!!

She was going to put it in her shop but I snagged it. It is beautiful and is such a great fit for our living room... See?

Photo Blogging

Ok, so I think I love the idea of photo blogging... I mean, think about it. You get to see (actually SEE) into the life of the blogger. So neat-o.

Since I've been horrible about actually writing on here, I thought I'd take a week to share a few shots of my life and how my weeks roll. :)

Sunday afternoon was spent like so:

Easter Story Cookies

My church is amazing. I am continually surprised by the creative ways they include all generations in learning and celebrating the stories of our Lord. Today, we received an email about Good Friday that included a super activity to get the entire family together to communicate the true meaning of Easter.

I seriously wish I had kids to share this with this weekend… BUT since we don’t have any kids, I think B and I will have to dedicate some time to make these ourselves.

Easter Story Cookies ~ To be made the evening before Easter
Ingredients:
1 cup whole pecans
1 tsp vinegar
3 egg whites
pinch salt
1 cup sugar
zipper baggie
wooden spoon
tape
Bible

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees (This is important, don't wait till you're half done with the recipe!)

2. Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces.
Explain that after Jesus was arrested, He was Beaten by the Roman soldiers. (Read John 19:1-3.)

3. Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1tsp vinegar into mixing bowl.
Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was given vinegar to drink. (Read John 19:28-30.)

4. Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life.
Explain that Jesus gave His life to give us life. (Read John 10:10-11.)

5. Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest into the
bowl.
Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, and the bitterness of our own sin. (Read Luke 23:27.)

6. So far, the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1 cup sugar.
Explain that the sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him. (Read Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16.)

7. Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed.
Explain that the color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. (Read Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3.)

8. Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper covered cookie sheet.
Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid. (Read Matthew 27:57-60.)

9. Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door.
Explain that Jesus' tomb was sealed. (Read Matthew 27:65-66.)

10. GO TO BED!
Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus'
followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. (Read John 16:20 and 22.)

11. On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow!
On the first Easter, Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. (Read Matthew 28:1-9.)

quirks

Ok, so I'm sitting here working on a couple new design projects when I notice my M&M quirk for the first time...

Subconsciously I separated each color into it's own group. Talk about ODD!! Like I mentioned, these are M&Ms, so they all taste exactly the same. Don't know why I have this odd little ritual or why it has taken me 27 years to notice it.

I would also like you to note that even my orange and blue M&Ms don't touch... But that's beside the point.

As I started writing I began to eat my M&Ms in pairs... I always knew that I did this, but didn't realize I ate all one color before moving on to the next.

So, now that you know how absolutely strange I am, what quirks do you have?

Much love (& M&Ms),
Steph
