Be Thankful: A Day Off

Today I am thankful for the day off.  Spending the day as I want is going to ROCK and will help me get my kitchen paint project finished!

I am also extremely grateful that God puts people in my life path to open new doors for my career and family.

Be Thankful: A Journal to Remind us to Give Thanks!

Tonight at my Mary Kay Unit Meeting we spoke about several things but one stuck out to me and I am going to try and implement it into my daily life.  A Thankful Journal - a simple moment where you stop to give thanks for what you have, who you are.

Today I'm kicking it off with a note about the most important person in my life... my amazing husband.

I am SO thankful that God blessed me with a husband who can say the simplest thing unprovoked and make me feel stunningly beautiful at almost 8 months pregnant.  He brings me such joy.

Making This House Our Home: Upstairs

Yesterday I shared my inspiration for the downstairs of our house. I reviewed with the man in charge and he gave the go ahead! (Now, if anyone would like to contribute funds or energy to the cause... Ha! Kidding. My "penny pinching" self will get these projects underway for the lowest amount possible.)

Since downstairs will host the warm colors, I wanted to contrast to showcase cooler colors upstairs... Here are my inspirations.

1.  Master Bedroom / Bath - coastal (in warmer temps) and snow (in the cooler months).  The colors will be white, slate gray and a gray/blue color.
Bed:
Bath:

2.  Guest Bedroom / Bath - a hotel/spa feel to make sure our guests feel welcome and pampered!

I think my house is going to be pretty rocking once we get these projects going!  Now is the hard part... where do I start?!

Making This House Our Home: Downstairs

Well, we moved in 2 months ago. Being extremely unable to live out of boxes we were unpacked and set up the day after move-in... Actually had a Mary Kay Open House the following weekend! (Insane? Perhaps.) We have our fence now installed and the nursery nearly done... So now what?

It's time to tackle the decorating of the remainder of the house! We want to add punches of color to compliment the new carpet and paint that we were so blessed to find when looking at the house. Our style is vintage meets contemporary chic meets casual... It's comfortable and all our own. Of course we want to keep the homey feel and welcome folks with or without shoes into our abode. So, here is what I'm thinking for the downstairs. Since all rooms sorta connect, we will run a theme of:

1.  White cabinets in the kitchen, cream walls, red/brown/tan accents...

2.  Cream walls, red/brown/white/tan accents in living room (keep it cozy)...

3.  Continue the theme into the dining area but add a conversation piece with the light fixture...

Of course we have neither the time nor the money for all of this. It's going to be total DIY Madness Makeover! Now all that's left is to get the husband's seal of approval and we can get started... But where?!

Showered With Baby Gifts

Well, well, well... It has been a quick 7 months and the showering for our bundle of joy's arrival have begun. Don't ask me how we got here, because life has seriously been a blur. From purchasing our first house and moving in, to family vacations and baby prep, it seems like we have lived a year's worth of life since April alone!

Our first shower was a beautiful brunch hosted by two of my dear friends this past Saturday. We received so many wonderful gifts:
+ outfits - boy will be best dressed for sure!
+ nursery decor - almost put together!
+ car seat - he will be safe and sound
+ bedding - sleeping comfy
+ diapers - wow will we need those!!

A special thanks to all who celebrated with us!

Grandaddy

In loving honor of the sweetest man I was ever blessed to know…

Etched coffee mug “WKE” stained from God’s boxed nectar,
Warm summer days of kickball in the yard,
cool nights of roasting marshmallows by the pool.

Ripened tomatoes – tested and cleaned in the chlorinated fun,
Blue lighted water to swim in by night,
Ooo – dah- lahlly in the sky.

Imaginary towns made from cardboard & matchbox cars,
Shot behind the back – the best pool game teacher ever,
Drafters desk & electric eraser.

A garden of love with grandchildren’s’ names etched permanently,
Yard work in a bathing suit, tennis shoes & “Take this job & Shove It” hat,
            Grow Dammnit!

Chinese food & spaghetti with carrots,
Smoked ham & grilled burgers,
            Watch it… SPORT.

Worshiper of Christ and lover of family,
Giving heart rests peacefully now,
Best Grandaddy ever…

Preggo Dreams Gone Wild

I've noticed lately that I'm having some of the STRANGEST dreams I've ever had. A few weeks ago I dreamed about this guy I know telling me he lived at Dunkin Donuts. It was odd and I'll never reveal his name because it'll be weird... Ha!

Last night was equally strange. I dreamed that I was out on the town with Franki Valli - you know "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Grease". We were at a theater seeing a play, then went to dinner and back to what apparently was his apartment but it was located in a Savannah-esque place. In my dream I texted my mom saying "you'll never guess who is showing me the city tonight" (she's a huge fan). The dream didn't really have an end it just faded away...

Any other preggos have really weird dreams or am I just that odd??
