Dedicating Wyatt

Yesterday we celebrated our little gift from above with his dedication at church.  Our family gathered with us for the occasion along with Wyatt's Godparents.  Such a meaningful time making a promise to God, to Wyatt, to our families and to our church that we would raise Wyatt in a loving, Christ-centered home.  Reflecting on it this morning gives me such a feeling of honor.  What an awesome role Brandon and I play!

Here are some photos of the fun!

Here come the teeth

Exciting news out of the Hunt house - we have 2 new teeth coming through! The pearly whites broke through on Friday & have been the topic of many conversations since. (Who would've thought that chats of baby teeth would be so interesting to me...)

This kid is always fast to smile & now has something new to show off when he does. I hope he always has such a great attitude.

Sweet potatoes with a side of smiles

Super mom here reporting that I finally attempted & successfully made baby food for little man! I don't know who was happier with the end result - him or me.

Brandon's sweet Memaw gave us some of her home grown sweet potatoes which neither of us eat. Wyatt, on the other hand, loves sweet potatoes. Instead of letting them go to waste I decided to bake them up, blend them soft & feed my ever growing boy. Success!

Even though baby food doesn't break the bank, I may give other items a go just for kicks & giggles. If you're interested, here is how I did it.

1. Take sweet potato(s) & poke holes into them with a fork. Wrap in aluminum foil.
2. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Let cool when finished baking.
3. Once cool, scoop sweet potato out of skins into a blender. I used my husband's favorite appliance - his Magic Bullet). Add water as needed to achieve proper consistency.
4. Store in containers & feed that baby!

Wyatt says this recipe rocks... See?

Baby Prayers

Today I don't have much to say, just a photo to share that I like to call "Baby Prayers". Enjoy readers.

The boy goes bananas

Today we added another food to the boy's menu - bananas. Saying that he loves them may just be an understatement. After taking the spoon so he could feed himself (yes, he is just 4 months old) he decided he would lick the spilled drops of banana off his tray. I think we may have an eater ladies and gentlemen.

Let's Eat!

The boy's adventures continue with his latest feat - beginning to eat solid foods. Being a good ol' southern gent from Georgia, we got his eating habits off to a home style start with peaches.

He likes them... I think. Or maybe he just likes to wear them.

{I hate to do this but I must... Please know that we are following our doctor's advice on when to start food. I do understand some parents have differing opinions & that's excellent. Together with our pediatrician we decided to give food a go - please honor our wishes as parents as we honor yours. Thanks!}

The boy is growing...

Cannot believe my sweet little man is 4 months old. Tell me it ain't so! He is so vibrantly full of life, always has a smile on his face (unless he is hungry) and has such a contagious curiosity for life.

This kid will move mountains.

10 Days Until D-Day

I. Can't. Believe. This.

In 10 days (or less) I will be a mom. WHAT?!? I know, it's insanity.

I've decided that no matter how much mind prep, books read, chats with the doctor (and everyone else who has to toss in their 2 cents), diapers and outfits received, you're never truly prepared for the life change that occurs when baby finally arrives. Although I've watched my belly grow and stretch (and I mean STRETCH) for the past 9 months, I still cannot believe that there is a precious little boy waiting to join our family. How amazing. How scary. How awesome.

Who will he look like? How long will he take to get here? How big will he be? So many questions roll through my brain as these last days come to an end. I can only describe it as Christmas - you see your gifts, wrapped safely under the tree and for the longest time you wonder what each holds... What gift does this precious little life hold for our family?

Be Thankful: False Labor

This morning has been rather eventful. I woke up for work as always, dragged myself through my morning routine and poured myself into my car for my 1-hour commute. The only difference was that I started having contractions just before I left the house (around 6:45am)! Now I knew that this was most likely false labor but it still was nerve wracking for the long commute. Once I got to my office I was able to time the contractions - had 5 during the 8 o'clock hour, 4 during the 9 o'clock hour and 3 during the 10 o'clock hour. As they progressively slowed down I'm figuring all is well!

Yesterday's report of 2cm & 50% effaced also helped keep my mind on the false labor. Needless to say, I'll be packing my hospital bag tonight just to be safe ;).

Today I am thankful for God's calming grace. As I started feeling the stronger contractions this morning I had a moment of panic that was quickly followed by a calming feeling as if someone put their arms around my shoulders and whispered, "it will be ok... Stay calm." My prayer is the same calm will overcome me during actual labor!

Due date is 27 days away, but I'm not feeling confident that we will make it that long! ;)

Here He Comes...

Happy 36 weeks to me! Today's doctor's appointment was awesome. We found out that I'm 2cm dilated and 50% effaced... Which is great news! Mr. Wyatt is head down and in position.

Our next appointment is next Tuesday. I'm interested to see if I dilate more or stay the same.

Now... We wait!

Baking Soda & Solo Cups

Has anyone ever heard of the Baking Soda gender test? Ok, me neither (& if you said yes then whoopty freakin do). My gal pal from my days at the U of A told me about it. You see, she is due 8 days before me so she was giving it a go for herself. I looked up instructions and decided that I wouldn't wait to do it in the comfort of my own bathrooms. No! I'll try it at work!!

I scoured the kitchen for my supplies - a disposable cup (because you can't ever wash out pee smell... Ewww) and some Baking Soda. Lucky for me, we have a test friendly facility here!

I sprinkled around a teaspoon of Baking Soda into the cup and then snuck into the bathroom to add my personalized ingredient. (You pee in the cup for those of us who have no clue). The test is supposed to fizz up if you're having a boy because your pee is more acidic. If its a girl, it just mixes together with no bubbly action.

Well, here is the results... It fizzed around the edge but not in the middle and no where near as much as other photos I found online. (Yes, people post pictures of their frothy/non-frothy pee. I was disturbed so I'm sparing a photo). I'm leaning towards girl BUT who knows!! We have our next ultrasound in 6 weeks where we should find out a more definite answer.

Much love,
Steph & Peanut

My Absence Explained

So yeah... Remember how I've sucked at blogging and I said last week there was an explanation? Well it's because I'm exhausted. I'm sick all day... IT'S BECAUSE I'M PREGNANT!! Do you know how incredibly hard it's been to keep my little secret?? Sheesh! Well at least now you know :)

I'm 12 weeks as of yesterday with hopes of my first trimester ailments (extreme morning/day/night sickness and lackadaisicalness) will be leaving my daily routine soon. Pray y'all. Pray that I can stop losing my lunch (and dinner) everyday! I'm also wishing for some more energy in order to let my creative juices flow again. Thus far I've spent my pregnancy working, sleeping, and trying to eat if I feel well.

Here I am with Peanut!
